Rake & Frame Stretch Question?

Just The Frame

Just The Frame

Rake: 36 degrees

Stretch: 3 up, 1 out, 1 back.

Okay Here`s Where I get a little off!
I`m pretty sure it`s about the neck!

What is the 3 up? = stretch the down-tubes upward?

What is the 1 out? = the steering neck will move 1 inch forward?

what is the 1 back? = Have no ideal here?

Is this somewhat on the right track?

Answer: Rake & Frame Stretch

Hello William,

Frame stretch terminology is often confusing but it seems like you are on the right track. Usually a stock frame is based on a stock Harley Davidson Soft-tail frame. Any adjustments made to this stock size is what people are referring to when they say “up” or “out.”

For instance if the frame is 3” up and 1” out, then you have increased the down tube height by 3” and 1” out in the top tube or backbone. You can express the exact same thing by saying 3” down and 1” back. Ultimately you are referring to the down tube and backbone length changes.

I hope that answers your question.

Thanks,

Rake and stretch

I'm afraid you got one portion of the anwser wrong. The 3" up is correct but the 1" out is in the direction away from the rider.
