GL1000 Goldwing

I have a 1976 GL1000 Goldwing and my first idea was restore the bike as original, but now I thinking build a custom bike using parts of the others bikes.

My bike is complete, I have all components and parts, some of them need to be chromed or polished. The frame is painted with a horrible red color and I need to disassemble all components to make o good black paint .

The motor is in good conditions, but it is stopped for 5 years e I have to clean carbs, change oil, belts, etc.

An order of "Hot Wings" anybody?
by: rider75

I like Goldwings, the basic bike that is. I am not much for a fully loaded stock 'Wing. The way I see it, you may as well drive an SUV with all the junk they hang on them. But, the basic bike is fine indeed. My buddy had one years ago that he crashed and bought back from the insurance company for spare parts. We got it running without the fairing and bags and trunk and put on an old headlight, a solo seat and stripped off the front fender and ran straight pipes (no mufflers!!!). It was pretty fast and handled well, not so much because of finely tuned suspension or anything, but because of the low center of gravity of the power plant, sort of like my BMW R75/5.

An outfit called KW Enterprises made a chopper kit for GW's a few years back but I can't find them on the web any more. I did save a picture of one from their site. Email me at rider75ATtelusDOTnet (replace "AT" and "DOT" with @ and .) I have quite a few pics of Bobber, Chopper and Cafe style 'Wings to give you many good ideas.

Back yard customs rule!

Goldwing Bobber
by: GT

Conrado, I've never considered a Gold Wing as a bobber project, but from where I'm sittin it might just turn out decent....Cool. I had one almost identical but wound up trading it off.
