1957 Hardtail EVO
About the 1957 Hardtail EVO...
I bought this bike 8-9 years back as a runner. The drivetrain, forks, and basic sheetmetal were altogether and she was being ridden daily by my "Club" Bro. The bike was for sale, to me, if I wanted Her, well "hell" I'd been looking for a "Stroker" for sometime, so we became one with each other. I swapped out the 16" frontwheel in preference of a 2:25X21" single disc. Next went the western bars, to "Riser Dragbars", new hand CONTROLS & FORWARD Controls down below. The gas tank (changed to Mustang
Paugco) got the stretched filler(4")trip to minumize gas spills. Front & Rear fenders came from a crashed "Heritage". The Pipes I built from scratch using an idea I saw in an ad are 21/2" I.D.-2" @ heads. I painted "Her" in 1 week in "Candy Firered" w\ full shadow front to back & bottom to top.Right now "She is @ 6C.I., stroked, balanced, cammed, etc. 5 speed trans & 16" Fatboy rear wheel. All this sits in an original 1957 straight-leg frame w\ 10" Stretch in the down tubes & 12" over tubes in the wideglide Forks. Do I get "Looks" & "Thumbs-up " whenever my 68 year old "Butt" goes for a ride, YOU BETCHA YOUR "SWEET BIPPY" young man. I'm 68 years young an all my bros say "POPS, YOU NEED TO BUY YOURSELF A DRESSER, YOUR TOO OLD FOR THAT HARDTAIL" to which I Reply, "SON, I'VE HAD A COUPLE OF "SOFTTAILS", THEY WERE TOO "DAMN" COMFORTABLE, SO I GOT RID OF 'EM, I STARTED ON A HARDTAIL(OLD SCHOOL FOOLS BIKE HA,HA!!) I'VE RIDDEN'EM FOR CLOSE TO 50 YEARS AND G--DAMN IT I'LL DIE ON A HARDTAIL, TO ME THEY ARE THE TRUE "CHOPPER"!! And by the way, I am currently building a 96c.i. stroked 1973 Shovelhead, IT TOO will be a "HARDTAIL"!!
